About the Craig Daily Press
The Craig Daily Press is located in Craig, Colo., which is 40 miles west of Steamboat Springs. The newspaper has roots back into the late 1800s and distributes 3,500 copies Monday through Friday and 9,500 copies Saturday in Craig and throughout Moffat and Rio Blanco County. The Craig Daily Press converted from a weekly publication to a daily paper Monday, Feb. 11, 1963. Craig is the seat of one of the largest geographic counties in Colorado which combines a rich tradition of the Old West with a new vision of economic growth. The area is home to a population that has demonstrated steady growth during the past decade with a growing retail base and some of the most productive coal mines in the world. In addition, it is also known as the "big game" capital of Colorado as hunters from throughout the United States travel to Moffat County in the fall to hunt elk, deer and antelope.
WorldWest Limited Liability Company, a Kansas company, was formed in April 1994. It is headquartered in Lawrence, Kan., at 609 New Hampshire Street, 66044.
In June of 1994, WorldWest acquired the assets of Raljon Publishing, Inc. In Colorado WorldWest operates a daily and a weekly newspaper and related publications in Steamboat Springs, a daily paper in Craig, printed in Steamboat Springs. Press, and mailroom services for the Craig newspaper are provided in Steamboat Springs. In Payson, Ariz., WorldWest operates a paper and freely distributed entertainment guide and related publications.
The owners of the company are Dolph C. Simons III, Dan C. Simons, Pamela Ann Simons, Linda Simons and Ralph D. Gage Jr. Dolph C. Simons III is the President of the World Company's Newspapers division, Dan C. Simons is President of the World Company's Electronics division. All reside in Lawrence, Kansas. Suzanne Schlicht is the Chief Operating Officer of The World Company. Thomas L. Hornbaker, also of Lawrence, is the company controller. Suzanne Schlicht of Steamboat Springs, Colo., is also the regional manager for WorldWest Limited Liability Company.
The owners of the company all have ties to The World Company, a Kansas corporation that owns and operates the Lawrence, Kan., Journal-World. Additionally, the Journal-World is a contract print site for Gannett Co.'s USA TODAY, serving parts of six midwestern states.
Dolph C. Simons Jr. is chairman of The World Company and editor of the Journal World.
