Lynne Barton Bier, the principal and lead designer of Home on the Range, has been in the home furnishing and interior design business in Steamboat Springs for the past 23 years. Lynne and her husband Joe moved to Steamboat from Washington, D.C. in 1988 and bought The Front Page on Lincoln Ave from Carolyn and John Baker. The Biers opened Barton’s of Steamboat in the Torian Plum Plaza two years later and subsequently sold the Front Page in order to focus on the newly created Barton-Bier Design showroom and the expansion of Barton’s home furnishing business.
In 1995 Lynne and Joe sold Barton’s of Steamboat and Lynne took a break from retail while their children were young. During this period she concentrated on the interior design business under their corporate name of Cotangent, inc.
In 2003 Lynne opened a new Home Furnishing store and Interior Design showroom in their space in the Torian Plum Plaza and called it Home on the Range. The interior design business continued to grow and Susan Howard joined the design team in 2004. In 2008 Lynne made the decision to move Home on the Range to the west of town where they would be near the cabinet, tile, plumbing and flooring showrooms and not have the constraints of being open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week for the ski-in ski-out retail business.
We invite you to visit us at Home on the Range to see our wonderful collection of home furnishings now displayed in our 2,300 sq’ foot retail and interior design showroom, located in Logger’s Lane. We will be happy to help you find the perfect furniture piece, gift or accessory or discuss working with you on any size project from one room to a complete home.
In the 23 years Lynne has been in business in the Steamboat area, she and her design team have completed projects in a number of the condominiums, including:
• Torian Plum • Torian Creekside • Bear Claw • Trappeurs • The Lodge • Eagleridge • Chateau Chamonix • Cimarron • The West • The Rockies • Storm Meadows Ranch • The Antlers • The Sheraton
For the past 12 years our main focus has been on complete interiors for new construction and on whole house furnishing and we have worked on homes in Lynx Pass, Lake Catamount, Catamount Ranch, Priest Creek Ranch, Dakota Ridge, Pearl Lake, Strawberry Park and Big Valley Ranch to name a few.
In conjunction with Joe Patrick Robbins, AIA and Gary Cogswell of Cogswell Construction, Lynne and Home on the Range have had homes published in Architectural Digest, Ski Magazine, Colorado Homes and Lifestyles and the Steamboat Pilot.
Lynne won the Colorado chapter American Society of Interior Designers 2010 Crystal Award for Residential Single Space. Home on the Range is known for its cozy welcoming interiors and versatility of style. We invite you to visit our website to see a portfolio of some of the homes we have completed.
