cccbuds 2 years, 1 month ago on Job creation, cutting red tape focus of State of State address

The following words from Colorado Senator Jean White. “I couldn’t get away without mentioning something about tourism,” White said. “or I wouldn’t get a ride home.” Her husband Al White is head of the Colorado Tourism Office. So where was the report from Moffat County Toursim Association? MCTA works closely with Al White and the Colorado Tourism Office. MCTA used to be invited by the Chamber of Commerce State of the County Address. I used to be a chamber ambassador I enjoyed a friendship with Christine Oxley. When I was of no use to her promoting her agendas behind the scenes, she threw me aside. She is so jealous of Mrs. Villard the director of MCTA that it is comical the hoops she jumps through to stifle Mrs. Villard. But the professionalism and grace with which Mrs. Villard handles her rebuffs is so mature. No invite to the MCTA. Page 10 of the daily press has Senator Jean White's address and just beside it on page 11 is a half page MCTA 2011 Year End Review. Mrs. Villard prevails again with grace. She is passionate about toursim, It is not just a JOB to her, you can tell. Go see the office of the MCTA in the mall. It will thrill and amaze you. Then go see the visitor center at the Chamber of Commerce. Not even comparing apples to apples.

I see no where in the article where skills taught were honesty and integrity. I hope she can get those classes in the future.

This is Moffat County, Not Mathers county. But that good old boy doesn't see it that way. No conflict of interest between his little girl (Christine (Mathers) Oxley) the Chamber of Commerce director and one of the Chamber funders, Moffat County Tourism Association, (MCTA) Since Christine has been Chamber director, you can go back on the Daily press web site and read all the problems between the Chamber and MCTA. One constant in all the years, Christine the director. All others, Chamber of Commerce, County Commissioners, City Council, MCTA have all had changes in directors, members, commissioner but the thread continues to annoy. The only common thread through out it all is Christine Oxley. So WHO really is being obstanant.??????

cccbuds 2 years, 5 months ago on Do you agree with the Moffat County Tourism Association board’s decision to relocate its office/visitor center inside Centennial Mall?

What is a tourism association supposed to do???? Promote tourisim. We in Craig are lucky to have the lodging tax paid by visitors, to be used to promote visitors. Each of the 3 visitor centers are alittle different so can better relate to all visitors. Be positive not so negative. This new director comes to the table with alot of new ideas and has already shown a working repore with different agencies to help develope the new visitors center with their contributions of material and she is setting up volunteers to help so is keeping the cost down. She has so much energy too. And why not in a mall? Not all visitors are hunters. Wives of hunters love to shop anywhere so the mall is a good choice. Hunters and other visitors go to Vallartas and it is practically next door to the new visitor center. Hunters and visitors buy groceries at Safeway, I have seen whole river raftin groups in the parking lot there. With signage there curiosity will lead them to the visitor center. Just because you haven't seen it done is a great oppertunity to start something new. Best of luck MCTA

Marillyn Hill didn't have a chance. Christine Oxley wants the job and with Daddy voting for her she is well on her way.

Undoubtedly this will be a challenge unlike any other. It takes a special breed to do this tour. Another challenge that you are facing, working with the majority of the gals on the tourism board. The 2 faced Elisa Hayes will be a big challenge. As will Christine Curry, who is just as 2 faced but has more finess than Elisa. Christine has run off the last Chamber director and many of the volunteers that used to work at the Chamber. My advice, watch your back and trust no one. Good Luck

cccbuds 4 years, 1 month ago on MCTA discusses voting violations

In this article it is reported "The MCTA board voted by anonymous paper ballot March 2 — a method Moffat County attorney Kathleen Taylor said was a violation of Colorado’s Sunshine Law." What is the penalty for violating the Sunshine Law? it looks to me as if it is ok to violate the Sunshine Law but not the Hatch Act. Why is the county officials and Attorney Kathleen Taylor ignoring this for MCTA but not for candidates for County office. With NO accountability the county employees and board members can just run the county anyway they want and to hell with the taxpayers that pay their salaries. BUCK UP, KATHLEEN TAYLOR AND DO YOUR JOB!
